Mrs. Wordna AaRhona “Cookie” Penney, age 83, a resident of Falls Chapel, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at her home.

She was born to Estes Lee and Dixie Ann Penney Griffin on November 4, 1942, in Falls Chapel, Arkansas. She married James Kay Penney on June 1, 1963, in Hugo, Oklahoma. Wordna was a member of Ben Lomond Church of Christ, and she was a retired Bookkeeper from Little River Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden on her hill, but most especially spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandson and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Kay Penney, two brothers, Dwayne Griffin and Drexel Griffin.

Wordna leaves to cherish her memory, three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Robin Penney of Corinth, Texas, Steve and Lisa Penney of Howe, Texas, John and Nicki Penney of Centerpoint, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Austin and Erin Penney of Aubrey, Texas, Hanna Penney of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Will Penney of Howe, Texas, Reese Penney of Centerpoint, Arkansas; one great grandchild, Bennett Penney; and one sister, Juaween Thompson of Falls Chapel, Arkansas; along with cousins, family and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Wordna “Cookie” Penney will be held at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, September 12, 2026, in the Falls Chapel Cemetery with Bro.
