Willie
Adams
Feb 18, 1952 — Dec 22, 2022
De Queen
Mr. Willie Adams
Mr. William Jean Adams, Sr., age 70, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas.
Willie, as he was known to family and friends, was born one of four children to J.E. and Mable Elizabeth Smith Adams on February 18, 1952, in Nashville, Arkansas. Willie attended school in Blevins and later, on June 19, 1971, married the love of his life, Genetta McWhorter, in McCaskill, Arkansas. Willie worked more than forty years for Coy Wiles Tire Company in De Queen, and later worked nine years for the Sevier County Road Department. Willie and Genetta were faithful members of the De Queen First Assembly of God where he served in a number of capacities. Willie had a servant heart and served more than fifteen years in maintenance for the church, as well as more than twenty years on the Church Board of Directors, and many years as a Deacon. He taught Sunday School and led the men's "Ironman Ministry". Willie found joy driving the church vans, making it possible for a number of children to come to church, who otherwise would not be able. Willie enjoyed woodworking, piddling, fishing, camping, and cooking breakfast. More than anything, he cherished the time spent with Genetta, their sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.E. Adams; his loving wife of over fifty years, Genetta Adams; one sister, Reta Bradley; and one brother-in-law, David Smith.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory, two sons and daughters-in-law, William Jean Adams, Jr. and Stacey of Bauxite, and Mark Jonathan Adams and Stacy of Alma; he was "PawPaw" to his four doting grandchildren, Lacey (Ryan) Leonard of Norfolk, Virginia, William Jace Adams of Bauxite, Alyssa Lee Adams of Alma, and Jonathan Ripley Adams of Alma; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Jonnette Leonard and Maddison Rose Leonard; his mother, Mable Adams of De Queen; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Nancy Adams of De Queen; one sister, Susie Smith of De Queen; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, the De Queen Fist Assembly of God Family, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Willie Adams will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the De Queen First Assembly of God with Pastor Ray Reynolds officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later time at Old Union Cemetery in Lockesburg. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 28th, at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. You may leave a condolence online at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
