Dr. William "Doc" Strube
Dr. William Joseph "Doc" Strube was born July 5, 1932 in Garvin, Oklahoma to William I. and Gussie P. (Simmons) Strube. Doc passed from this life on Monday, November 23, 2020 at his home.
He grew up in Garvin and later Idabel, Oklahoma. He was a 1951 graduate of Idabel High School and on December 20, 1952, he married the love of his life, Sue Doerner, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Doc graduated from Fresno State in California in 1957. He then went to Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1961 with a Doctorate Degree in Veterinarian Medicine. He practiced Veterinarian Medicine in Diagonal, Iowa, and then practiced in Albany, Missouri. In 1970, he moved his family to De Queen, Arkansas, where he was the head USDA Chicken Inspector at Mountaire and later, Pilgrim's Pride, where he retired in 2001. Doc was a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking, reading and fishing, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clarence Sr., Ruben, Erlin and Ferris Strube, Mable Lada and Doris Bowling; two sons, John Strube and infant Joseph Strube; as well as, one son-in-law, Danny Carlstead.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sue (Doerner) Strube of De Queen; one son, Mark Strube of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Cathy Hall and Michele Carlstead, both of De Queen; four grandchildren, Alisha Reid of Hot Springs, Courtney Reid of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Timothy and Malloree Carlstead of De Queen; one great-granddaughter, Robin Ahrens of Texarkana; as well as, a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside Services for Dr. William "Doc" Strube will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Chapel Hill Cemetery, De Queen, with Bros. Delbert Stone and Bobby Fischer officiating. Burial will follow, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home. Due to current health concerns, Mrs. Sue Strube will not be in attendance at visitation. The public is welcome to attend services, but are ask to wear a face mask or covering.
