Ashdown
Mr. Wilbon Wray
Mr. Wilbon D. Wray, Jr., age 82, of Ashdown, Arkansas, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Little River Memorial Hospital in Ashdown.
Wilbon, known to most as "Buddy" or "W.D.", was born to Wilbon D. Wray, Sr. and Gladys Pearl Teasley Wray on September 7, 1941, in De Queen. He was a 1959 graduate of De Queen High School and later enlisted with the United States Navy. Buddy faithfully served one tour in Vietnam before receiving his honorable discharge. He later went to work in Maintenance at Domtar in Ashdown, retiring after twenty-seven years of service. On December 12, 1991, he married Sandra Gail Atkins in Ashdown, and together they shared over thirty-two loving years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, and he enjoyed fishing, history, westerns, cooking, and was an avid reader. Most of all, he loved being "Papaw" to his doting grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Stacey Wray.
W.D. leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Sandy Wray of Ashdown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bethany and Ray Robertson of Montgomery, Texas, Leann and Clint Newton of Ashdown, and Jodi and Doug Williams of Ashdown; ten grandchildren, Lexie Burns, Joshua Robertson, Kaitlin Baca, Jessica Morian, Sarah Broussard, Garrett Robertson, Hannah Reynolds, Anna Reed, Lynlee Williams, and Colton Williams; ten great-grandchildren, Landry, Bryleigh, Paisleigh, Jack, Ellie, Annie, Miles, Emerson, Cruz, and Sammy; one sister, Mary Lou Pearce of De Queen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
