Mr. Vernon Clarence Shelton, age 83, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, January 10 ^th in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Clarence Jackson and Myrtle Viola Vanscoder Shelton in Shinewell, Oklahoma on March 15, 1934. He served in the military with the US Navy, and was retired from the State of Oklahoma where he was a Forest Ranger Chief.   He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of De Queen, where he served as a deacon.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cows, and cherished the time spent with family, especially his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Clifford Shelton, Inez Clark, Della Hill, Betty Watson, and Emmitt Shelton.

He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Maudie Davis Shelton of Eagletown, Okla.,a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Vernon "Buddy" and Carla Shelton of De Queen, Two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Bryan Scott and Ashley Shelton of De Queen, and Randall Eric Shelton of Ozark, Arkansas, a great-grandson, Jaxon Ty Shelton of De Queen, five brothers and sisters-in-law, Olen and Jimmie Ann Shelton of Shinewell, Oklahoma, Charles and Barbara Shelton, Roger and Judy Shelton all of Goodwater, Okla., and Larry and Linda Shelton of Horatio, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelene Davis of Goodwater, Oklahoma, and Shirley and Cy Davis of Eagletown, Oklahoma,  and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Vernon Shelton will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
