Mrs. Theda Ward
Mrs. Theda Ann Stuart Ward, resident of Horatio, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Nashville, Arkansas, after having attained the age of eighty-nine years, seven months, and seven days.

Theda was born to Joseph Dillon and Vina Mae Coffman Stuart on November 12, 1932, in Horatio, one of four children. She was a graduate of Horatio High School and obtained her master's degree in Education from Henderson State University. Theda began her career in education with the Cutter Morning Star school district, Hot Springs, Arkansas, in 1958. In the years to come, she moved back to the Horatio School District and took the position of a Chapter One Reading Instructor. During her time at Horatio, Theda faithfully stood in the capacity of Counselor, Principal, and Librarian of the Horatio Elementary School until her retirement in 1994. At the time of her retirement, Theda had spent more than forty-three years serving and educating the youth of Central and Southwest Arkansas. Theda was a member of the Horatio First Baptist Church, Arkansas Educator's Association, Camelia Garden Club, Eastern Star, and the Horatio Cemetery Association. She enjoyed animals, reading, quilting, crafts, hat making, gardening, and her flowers. Theda best spent her time with her loving family and her dogs, Chester and Fred.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, George W. Ward; her brother, Charles E. Stuart; and two sisters, Barbara Anderson, and Shirley Mae Pieratt.

Theda leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as many friends to cherish her memory.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Theda Ward will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Trent Liggin officiating. Interment will follow at the Horatio Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home. You may leave a condolence online at www.chandlerfuneral.com.

Active pallbeares will be Loy Stuart, Madison Thompson, Joe Pieratt, Tyler Houser, Joe Brinkley, and Jason Lundry. Justin Cruz to serve as an honorary pallbearer.
