Mrs. Takanu Takmij Johnny, age 83, a resident of the Marshall Islands, passed from this life on Monday, August 25, 2025, on Majuro in the Marshall Islands.
She was born to Lake Takmij and Ermeto Bujen on July 1, 1942, and married Joe Jo Johnny. She was active in her Church, and was the Mother of 2 adopted children, as well as 10 of her own, and many others that called her Mom and Grandma and became family as well. She experienced famine during drought, but no matter what, her children were taken care of and did not go hungry. She preserved food by burying it underground, and got fish and crab from the ocean, she was a tailor by trade, and would sew for anyone that needed it. She had a giving heart where she would make clothes for anyone that was in need. She was a midwife for the women of the Islands. She would make mats and other Marshallese handy crafts and she loved to bake and would have something waiting every day for her children to eat. To be 83, she was very active.
She was preceded in death by her parents and some of her siblings
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Takjen Juna, Georgeton Johnny, Sandy Jiwirak, Johnny Johnny, Keyomina Johnny, Johnnsey Ranny Johnny, Jemelik Johnny, Jennifer Langbata, Carina J. Tikomaimaleya, Lincoln Johnny, Jolton Jortak and Tina Ken; fifty-one grandchildren, Douglas Juna, Elias Jr Juna, Byron Juna, Sam Juna, Marshall Sargeant, Sherbella Juna Latel, Deonaire Juna, Danya Johnny Kabua, Susanda Johnny, Ezekiel Jikko Johnny, Aloma Johnny, Oliver Johnny, Hinton Daku Johnny, Kristy Clamen, Krystal Schladen, Kristiana Jiwirak, Liana Jiwirak, Stephanie, Johnson Kano Johnny, Joe Elohim Johnny, Nick Johnny, Gabriel Nicko Johnny, Eline Earvin, Malina Sargeant, Rosebeth Matundan, Taebirua Johnny, Mackmiller Johnny, Jelisa Johnny, Jeremiah Johnny, Melynn Johnny, Jesse Johnny, Feryenne Langbata, Jenson Langbata, Totha Jack, Merebulou Grace Tikomaimaleya, Larrytaylor Israel Tikomaimaleya, Patrick Johnny, Rickson nanu, Johnny, Faith Johnny, Faith Johnny, Ajje Johnny, Jendrikdrik Johnny, Mullauhsayn Lendes Silk, Kikitha tijen Lucky, Ann Broken Johnny, Manty Ken, Kenty Ken, Jora, Vervilling Bonbon, Helintina, Kiolani, and Jola all who live in the United States and the Marshall Islands; and ninety-three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Takanu Johnny will be at 10:00 A.M September 16, 2025 through 1:00 P.M., September 17, 2025, at the Morning Star Church in Rairok, Marshall Islands with Rev. Rusiate Turaga officiating on September 17, 2025, she will arrive at 3:00 P.M. to Arno Atoll and stay on the island until September 18, 2025, at 1:00 P.M..
