Mrs. Ruth Jones Carden, age 88, a resident of Haworth, Oklahoma, and former resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at her home. She was born to Tommy and Elizabeth Fleet Jones in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 17, 1928. She was retired owner of Ms. Ruth's Flowers, and was active in the Foster Grandparent Program in the Winthrop and Foreman Schools. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Crossroads, Arkansas, and enjoyed traveling, flower arrangements, cooking, and cherished the time spent with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel E. Carden, a son, David Carden, a daughter, Martha Grooms, a grandchild, Lori, and her siblings, Frances Paluman, and Jewel Jones. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ollie and Peggy Carden of Idabel, Oklahoma, a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Larry Nichols of Haworth, Oklahoma, a son, Virgil and his wife, Edie Carden of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, twenty-two grandchildren, Jamie and his wife, Susie Nichols of Kountze, Texas, Chicohota Carden, Mary Carden, and Shane Carden all of Idabel, Oklahoma, Kevin and his wife, Sherry Carden of Winthrop, Arkansas, Catherine and her husband, Jack Waller of Orange, Texas, David Lynn, Jr. and his wife, Tammy Carden of Forrest City, Arkansas, Tina Matthews of Destin, Florida, Celena Malo of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Rodney Lee Starwalt of De Queen, Shawn Farley of Valliant, Oklahoma, Shane Farley of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Shandon Farley of Idabel, Oklahoma, nineteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Jones of Marianna, Arkansas, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Don Treadwell of West Helena, Arkansas, and Gladys and Clyde Newsom of Paducah, Kentucky, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Carden will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 6th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barry Brown and Bro. Gary Steiner officiating. Burial will follow in the Pauley Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, November 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home.
