Mrs. Ruby Emerson
Mrs. Ruby Jean Vaught Emerson, age 92, resident of Texarkana, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at home with her loving family by her side.
Ruby was born one of five children to Felbert Ollie and Bertie Mae Miller Vaught on April 17, 1931, in Center, Arkansas. She was a 1949 graduate of Gillham High School and went on to receive business training. On December 2, 1961, Ruby married the love of her life, James Russell Emerson, Sr., in Grannis, Arkansas. Ruby was a Homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church in Grannis. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid reader. Ruby best spent her time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Russell Emerson, Sr.; one son, James Russell "Jimmy" Emerson, Jr.; a son-in-law, Roy Beaty; one sister, Sue Guire; and two brothers, J.D. Vaught, and Jerry Vaught.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, seven daughters and their spouses, Sandy Chandler and Duane of Brenham, Texas, Phyllis Beaty of Old Washington, Katrina Johnson of Texarkana, Texas, Sandi Pommier of Pine Prairie, Louisiana, Karen Bourns and D.J. of Eagle Lake, Texas, Lesa Shipp and William of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Rita Fielder and Ron of Texarkana, Arkansas; thirty-one grandchildren, sixty great-grandchildren, and seventeen great-great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Felton and Carolyn Vaught of Gillham; one sister, Shirley Wells of Grannis; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
The family of Mrs. Ruby Emerson will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M., Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 P.M., at Mt. Ida Cemetery in De Queen with Bro. Wallace Edgar officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen.
