Mr. Roy Nelson
Mr. Roy Dell Nelson, age 83, resident of Ashdown, Arkansas, and former resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, March 24, 2024, in Texarkana, Texas.

Roy was born one of eight children to Virgil and Jessie Cardell Nelson on November 27, 1940, in Lockesburg, Arkansas. He was a graduate of the Sevier County Training School in Lockesburg, and following graduation, went on to begin his career. Roy worked in different capacities over the years but was most fond of his sharing of the Gospel. Roy was of the Baptist faith but did not have a single church membership. Roy attended a number of churches in our area as he Pastored and shared the Gospel. He enjoyed fishing and was a "pretty good" gardener. Roy best spent his time with loving family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Caldwell Nelson; and his siblings, Harvey Nelson, Lewis Elvin Nelson, Billie Candler, Norma Lewis, and Gene Nelson.

Roy leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers, Cleveland Nelson, and his wife, Gwendolyn of Lancaster, Texas,and Charles Ray Nelson of Charleston, South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Jo Helen Nelson of Desoto, Texas, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Roy Nelson will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 30, 2024, in the New Zion Baptist Church, Lockesburg, Arkansas.
