Mr. Robert Knighten
Mr. Robert J. Knighten, age 89, resident of Foreman, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Haworth, Oklahoma.
Robert was born the second of thirteen children to Robert Wallace and Dorothy Dean Harrington Knighten on August 20, 1933, in Foreman. Robert married the love of his life, Mary Sue Edwards, on February 8, 1958, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. To this union, four sons and one daughter were born. Robert was a farmer, welder by trade, and for more than twenty-eight years, worked the hay fields for a number of farmers in our area. Robert and Sue are members of the Free Holiness Church, where they both served on the Winthrop Camp Meeting Board for 25 years. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He best spent his time with Sue, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leroy Knighten, Johnny Dale Knighten, A.C. Knighten, and Bill Knighten; and four sisters, Sherry Ruth Simmons, Ethel Marie Nunn, Rosie Clark, and Joy Faye Lockaby.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over sixty-four years, Sue Knighten of Foreman; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky Don Knighten of Winthrop, Larry Duaine "Doodle" and Kathy Knighten of Winthrop, Michael Lee and Crissy Knighten of Foreman, and Raylon Ladell Knighten of Foreman; one daughter and son-in-law, LaDonna Sue and James Bushey of Foreman; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica Ridge, Joann Dickerson, Kamrynn Knighten, Doodle Knighten, Justin Michael Knighten, Dustin Robert Knighten, Mason Lee Knighten, Mabree Knighten, Keith Bushey, Dakota Bushey, Ashley Sue Bushey, Patience Carney, and Patrick Carney, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren, Angela, Ashur, Noah, Declan, Kason, Leah, Hadlee, and Corbyn Tate; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wallace Edward and Margaret Knighten of Foreman, Simon Joseph Knighten of Foreman, and Charles David and Jenise Knighten of Foreman; one sister, Rachel Knighten of Booneville; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Robert Knighten will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Winthrop with Bros. Billy Don Weeks, Tracy Welch, and Audie Dawson officiating. Interment will follow at Gravelly Cemetery in Foreman. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
