Mr. Bob Cooper, Sr.

Mr. Robert Mann (Bob) Cooper, Sr., age 81, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at his home.

Robert, affectionately known as "Bob," was the youngest of six children born to David Spears and Minnie Jean Blackburn Cooper on March 10, 1939 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a 1959 graduate of Bryan Station High School in Lexington, where he served as Vice President of their FFA Chapter. Bob married the love of his life, Lucy Logan Duncan, on July 23, 1959 in Lexington. He proudly served his country with the United States Marine Reserves and attended church at the Gillham Methodist Church. He was a member of AFGE Local 2876 and 3141, where he served in the capacity of Secretary/Treasurer and President. He was also a NARFE Legislative Officer. Bob received recognition and numerous awards for his 32 years of service as a Food Inspector for USDA. He enjoyed photography, gardening, flowers and fishing, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Cooper, Jr.; three sisters, May Howard, Agnes Stevens and Patty Prather; and one son-in-law, Abel Luna, Jr.

Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of almost 61 years, Lucy Cooper of De Queen; four children, Robert Cooper, Jr. and wife Estella of De Queen, John Cooper and his wife Cheryll of Seneca, South Carolina, Alesa Luna of Amarillo, Texas and Julia Marfut and husband Mike of Bremerton, Washington; six grandchildren, Davida, Heather, Bobby, Bethany, Jenifer and Robert; eleven grandchildren, Savannah, Madison, Brielle, Norah, Hannah, Derek, Kira, Jordan, Nathan, Jeremy and Rachel; one great-great-grandson, Leander; one sister, Jean Heaton of Columbus, Ohio; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bob Cooper, Sr., will be held at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Leah Arnold officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home. You may send an online sympathy message at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
