Rita Louise Schmidt, age 66, a resident of Texarkana, Texas, died Monday, December 11, 2017 in the Waterton Plaza, Texarkana, Texas.

She was born to Joseph Herbert "Bud" and Bobbie Louise Duff Schmidt in Houston, Texas, on August 13, 1951. She was an accountant for Defense Financial Accounting Services, and a Baptist. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by one son, Kristopher Schmidt of Texarkana, Texas, a brother and sister-in-law,
David Rodney and Deborah Schmidt of Arden, Arkansas, and an aunt, Billie M. Duff of Houston, Texas, a nephew, Dustin Schmidt of Ashdown, two nieces, Heather Thrash, and Misty Parker both of Ashdown, and six great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Rita Schmidt will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Millwee Cemetery, Horatio, Arkansas, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
