Obituary

Mrs. Rebecca Jean "Becky" Higgins Stiles, age 75, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 30th at her home. She was born to Marvin O'Neal and Hazel Lee Helms Higgins in Mineral, Arkansas, on January 7, 1941. She graduated from Gillham High School in 1958. She went on to have a lengthy career with Weyerhaeuser Company. She started as a secretary and timberlands clerk for Dierks Forrest, Inc, which was later bought by Weyerhaeuser Company in De Queen. Upon moving to Mississippi with Pete's career transfer, she be became Personnel Manager at Weyerhaeuser Co in Bruce, Mississippi and became Process Manager of the woodyard for Weyerhaeuser's Columbus Pulp and Paper Complex in Columbus, MS., as well as a devoted wife and mother. Becky retired in 1997, after 39 years. In 1997, Pete and Becky moved back to De Queen, where she enjoyed serving on the Board of Gillham School Alumni Committee. She loved Gillham and her former schoolmates. She was an active member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Food Committee, and Vacation Bible School Food Committee. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Tillmon Whitley, and an infant son, Gregory Alan Stiles. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edwin L. "Pete" Stiles of De Queen, a daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Steven Hughes of Germantown, Tennessee, a grandson, Jake Hughes of Birmingham, Alabama, a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Cheryl Higgins of De Queen, Arkansas, two stepbrothers, Tim Whitley of De Queen, and Tommy Whitley of Louisville, Kentucky, an aunt, Peggy Skipworth of Ashdown, six nieces and nephews, and 10 great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her husband's family, a brother-in-law, Bill and his wife, Irene Stiles of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Funeral Services for Mrs. Becky Stiles will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 2nd in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Carlton and Bro. Joe Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, August 1st at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
