Obituary

Mr. Raymond Shipley
Mr. Raymond Edward Shipley, age 96, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life Sunday, September 19, 2021, at his home.

Raymond was born the oldest of four sons to the union of Edward Elexis and Myrtle Belle Ritz Shipley on July 12, 1925, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. On August 4, 1946, he married the love of his life, Lydia Johanna Baudenbach, in Germany. Raymond faithfully served in the United States Army during the occupation of Germany and was a Millwright. He worked many years for Baltimore Rigging, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed keeping his home and twenty-acre property until his health recently began to fail. Raymond was content with being at home and working in his yard, but more than anything, he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of over 65 years, Lydia Shipley; his brothers, Edward, Howard, Carl Shipley; and a sister-in-law, Inge Scherer.

Raymond leaves to cherish his loving memory, one son and daughter-in-law, James Raymond and Connie Shipley of Bradenton, Florida; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Lee and Alan Byrd of De Queen; five grandchildren and their spouses, Paula (Jonathan) Leal of Bradenton, Jennifer Shipley of Bradenton, James Bryson (Melissa) Byrd of Destin, Jaime (Scotty) McClendon of De Queen, and Cody (AshleaTaylor) of Benton; six great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Cassandra Leal of Bradenton, James Luke, Colton, and Camille Byrd of Destin, and Stryder Byrd of Benton; sister-in-law, Myrtle Shipley of Maryland; special friends, Barbara and Olen Lacefield of De Queen, and Lorie and Todd Jones of Little River Country Club; caregivers, Kaitlyn Currence and Lakeshia Cornelius; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

At the request of Mr. Raymond Shipley, services will not be held at this time. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. You may send an online sympathy message at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
