Mr. Paul Dean Stone, age 81, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Christus St. Michael in Texarkana, Texas. He was born to Paul Lynn and Josephine Nalley Stone, in Tishamingo, Oklahoma, on September 9, 1936.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Ann Stone; a son Flint Maxwell and wife Cathy Stone; and a daughter, Paula Ann and husband Brad Justice; four grandsons, Adam Lancaster, Brayden Rose, Patrick and wife Erin Stone, and Max Stone; one granddaughter Brooke Rose.
He was a graduate of De Queen High School and Ouachita Baptist College. He was in the Army Reserves, a marksman on the rifle team, a NAIA All American Football player at Ouachita. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of De Queen. He was a teacher at Lockesburg High School for several years and a school bus driver for Lockesburg and De Queen schools, as well as, a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed teaching young children and inspired many of his former students to pursue professions in the medical field and he was so proud of that. He retired from Woodmen of the World Life Insurance after 22 years of service.
Funeral services for Mr. Paul Dean Stone will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Chapel Hill Cemetery with Brad Justice officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
