Mrs. Pam Davis
Mrs. Pamela Louise Carpenter Davis, age 68, resident of Diana, Texas, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Windsor Place in Daingerfield, Texas.

Pam, as she was known to family and friends, was born to Denney Ferris and Marjorie Joy Youngblood Carpenter on March 22, 1955, in De Queen, Arkansas. She was Valedictorian of the 1973 Gillham High School graduating class. After graduation, Pam went on to attend Henderson State University from 1973 to 1977, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Business Education. She later attended Southern Arkansas University, earning a degree in Library Science. She married the love of her life, Danny Dean Davis, on December 14, 1980, and to this union, two children were born.

She felt no one was more special than anyone else and had a quote she truly lived by: "No matter how many titles you have after your name or how many pieces of paper hang on your wall, you will always be a teacher."

Pam began her education career in 1977, at Fouke High School in Fouke, Arkansas. In 1981, she moved from the Fouke ISD to teach for nine years at Bish Mathis Institute School of Business in Longview. After leaving BMI in 1991, Pam took the position of District Librarian at New Diana ISD in Diana, Texas. She served as District Librarian until her retirement in 2013, following her thirty-five years of dedicated service as an Educator. Along with her work as District Librarian, Pam also served as NDHS Student Council Advisor and felt it to be a true joy to work with these special students. During her time advising the Student Council, she and her students earned a number of well-deserved accomplishments and accolades. Including: Food Drive Coordinator for School and Community; Top Ten Projects in Texas for work with Help Cody and Help Helen Projects; recognized by the national organization, Today Foundation, for the council's simulated Drunk Driving Project; built twenty-two Yamboree Floats; and coordinated twenty-two years of Awards Assemblies and Honors Banquets. Other awards and recognitions include: NDMS Service Plaque – 1995, NDHS Special Service – 1995, NDHS Educator of the Year – 2003, NHS Golden Apple Awards – 2008, 2011, and 2012, Texas Student Council District 19 Advisor of the Year – 2013, and TASC Eddie G. Bull 2013 Texas Advisor of the Year Finalist. Throughout her time in college and her education career, Pam was an active member of a number of clubs and organizations including: Texas Library Association 1991-2013; Delta Kappa Gamma Society International 2001-2023, where she served as Parliamentarian for two years, 2nd Vice President for three years, and President for nine years; New Diana Educational Foundation – two years; Diana United Fund – fifteen years; Girls Scouts of America, serving in capacity of Leader from 1987-1991, and received Longview District Girl Scout Leader of the Year – 1990; and Phi Beta Lambda Business Society from 1974-1977.

She was firm in faith and was a member of Community of Christ Church. She was an ordained Elder and Reader, and served as Church Camp Counselor, Sunday School Teacher, and Music Director and Pianist from 1967-2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denney and Marjorie Youngblood Carpenter; her loving husband of over twenty-five years, Danny Davis; sister-in-law, Wanda Davis Dowling; brothers-in-law, Orville Wain Davis and Donald Gene Davis; one niece, Tanya Davis Morris; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pam leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Lucas Carrington of Diana, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kristi Davis of Weatherford, Texas; five grandchildren, Katelyn Cowles, Kristopher Cowles, and Cole Zuleger, all of Diana, Texas, and Maxx Davis and Drew Davis of Weatherford, Texas; her sister, Edna Joy Carpenter Byrd of De Queen; a special friend, Mike Chunn of Sweetwater, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Davis of Waskom, Texas; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and past special students.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Pam Davis will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the New Diana High School Auditorium, 11826 SH-154, Diana, Texas, with Bro. Greg Hall officiating. Interment services will be held at 3:30 P.M., Saturday, at Valley Cemetery, Gillham, Arkansas, with Bro. Terry Hess officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., Saturday, at the New Diana High School Auditorium. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
