Mr. Lee Brewer
Mr. Ophie Lee Brewer, age 94, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Texarkana, Texas.
He was the second oldest of six, born to Charles Pleasant and Ethel Eva Rhiner Brewer on August 14, 1924, in Gillham. Lee proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during World War II. He married the love of his life, Bessie Faye Carpenter, on June 6, 1948, in Gillham, and to this union, two children were born. He worked as a Machinist, retiring from Arkansas Cement Co. after over 15 years service. Lee was the last living, founding member of the De Queen Church of Christ. He served the church as a Sunday School Teacher having taught the teen and senior classes. He was a member of the Stay Dry Organization of Sevier County and enjoyed woodwork, gardening, carpentry and landscaping, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie Brewer, whom he shared 66 loving years; his daughter, Molly Ann Greer; and four brothers, Honval, Charles, James and Edgar Brewer.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Denny Charles Brewer and his wife Debbie of Conway, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Daniel Lee McKinney of Washington D.C., Josh Brewer and his wife LaWanda of St. Peters, Missouri, Jason Brewer and his wife Carrie Ann of Memphis, Tennessee, Jonathan Brewer of Dallas, Rosalie Todd and her husband Kerry of De Queen and Carmen Kelly and her husband Jason of Chicago, Illinois; eleven great-grandchildren, Wilson, MiKayla, Ellis, Olivia, William, Anthony, James, Duncan, Austin, Tanner and Paul; five great-great-grandchildren, Tatum, Lyrik, Kinsley, Declan and Wyatt; one brother, Lewis Brewer and his wife Rose of Louisville, Kentucky; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lee Brewer will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 6, 2019 in the De Queen Church of Christ, with Toney Stowers and Bobby Tatum, Ministers, officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Valley Cemetery, Gillham, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, July 5 th , at the funeral home. You may send an online sympathy message at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
