Mr. Newman Morton Harp, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Texarkana, Texas. He was born to Opal and Russell Harp in Lubbock, Texas on November 14, 1936. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as a mechanical engineer in the United States Army. He retired from Tyson Foods after 24 years of employment. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed fishing, working on electronics, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Clyde Holt, two sisters, Nellie Mason and Evelyn Ellis. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Harp of De Queen, two daughters, Tonya Harp and Robbie Cowling of De Queen, one son, Johnny Harp of Horatio, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Joshua and Jayce Johnson of De Queen, Justin Harp of Horatio, Ashley Williams of Horatio, Matthew Cowling of Clearwater, Florida, Chantea Cleckler, Vickie Wood of Rufe, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan and Austin Johnson of Amity, Arkansas, Harper and Gerrick Williams of Horatio, Chasity James and Christin Mcleskey of Rufe, Oklahoma, Hope Johnson, Ty and Chae Hensley of Oklahoma, a number of nieces, nephews and host of friends. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen, Arkansas. A memorial service with military honors will be announced at a later date.
