Mrs. Mildred Hodges
Mrs. Mildred Bogan Hodges, age 82, a resident of Horatio, passed from this life on Saturday, October 13, 2018, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born to James Littleton and Allie Molein Gore Bogan on April 16, 1936, in Horatio, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Robert Hodges, Jr., on June 5, 1954, and to this marriage, four children were born. Mildred loved the Lord and taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years and she was also a member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church in Lockesburg. She was very active in her community and was a member of the Extension Homemakers of Sevier County, having served as the "Queen for the Day." She was an avid supporter of the county 4-H chapter, and she was the PTO President while her children were in school. She enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting, her flowers and going to Gospel Singings, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, whom affectionately called her "Granny."
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Robert Hodges, Jr. of Horatio; four children, Melissa Dawn Liggin and her husband Willie of Horatio, Kayla Molein Hodges of Horatio, Bobby Littleton Hodges and his wife Teresa of Lockesburg, and John Allen Laster and his wife Dottie of New Braunfels, Texas; nine grandchildren, Labrada Vann and her husband Justin of Horatio, Ashley Lanford and her husband Justin of Columbus, Mississippi, Kirk Robert Hodges and his wife Tasha of Smithville, Oklahoma, Stephanie Laster of New Braunfels, Texas, Brandi Cole of De Queen, Trent Liggin and his wife Karen of Foreman, Robert Dale Heigle and his wife Chelsea of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, Blake Laster and his wife Gwen of Tyler, Texas, and Jeffery Liggin and his wife Sara of Greenbrier; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred Hodges will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 16, 2018, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with her grandsons, Trent and Jeffery Liggin officiating. Burial will follow in the Millwee Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 15 th , at the funeral home.
