Mrs. Midge Divine Burris, age 90, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Monday, July 25, 2016, in the De Queen Medical Center.
She was born to Ameal and Nola Smith Divine in Sevier County, Arkansas, on March 5, 1926. She was a retired nurse, and a member of Mt. Phebia Baptist Church of Horatio. She enjoyed Bible study, quilting, gardening, flowers, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Burris, her parents, her siblings, Elease Moreland, and Napoleon Divine, and her granddaughter-in-law, Janice Jordan.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clifton and Donna Burris of Gary, Indiana, a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Ray Gaffney-French of Horatio, four grandchildren, Ted Jordan of Horatio, Robert, Jr. and his wife, Taya Gaffney of Grand Prairie, Texas, Carol Irby-Nunnery and her husband, Hilton Nunnery of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Attorney Ryan and his wife, Shayla Gardner of Indianapolis, Indiana, eleven great-grandchildren, Robert Andre Gaffney, Brittany and Markevius Marion, Shaylon Gaffney, Devin Wright, Angie Johnson, Sgt. Sonya Johnson, Carmelia Johnson, Julian Ginn, Darius Ginn, Braxton Gardner, and Beckham Gardner twelve great-great-grandchildren, Joshua, Aleah, Makyla, Brennen, Brayden, Kayden, Kennedi, Zoey, Adaya, Amelia, Axton, and Vera, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Midge Burris will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 31, 2016 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sunset Acres, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
