Mrs. Mary Evelyn Dodds Byers, age 83, a resident of Richland, Missouri, died Sunday, March 18, 2018 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born to Fred Russell and Vondal Opal Crisp Dodds in Dierks, Arkansas, on October 25, 1934.
She retired from Waynesville Schools as Food Service Director, as well as a homemaker. She loved her Lord and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and cherished the time spent with her family. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and collecting bird figurines. Her beautiful eyes and loving smile will be missed by all her family and those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Paul Alan Byers.
She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Louis A. "Tuffy" Byers, Sr., two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis A., Jr. and Tammy Byers, David and Debbie Byers, a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Gail and Edward Zielonka, a brother and sister-in-law, James and Patsy Dodds, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Jerry Chenoweth, and Joyce and Nick Short, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Evelyn Byers will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 23, 2018, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Foster Krudwig officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.
