Mrs. Marjorie Joy Youngblood Carpenter, age 87, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at her home.
She was born to William Jeremiah and Lillian Louise Rasmon Youngblood, on July 25, 1929 in the Kellum Community of Sevier County, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Dennie Ferris Carpenter, on December 11, 1953 at Gillham, Arkansas. Marjorie worked as a cafeteria worker at both the Grannis and Gillham schools. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, cooking, working her vegetable and flower garden, as well as, spending time with her family and her 22-year-old cat "Puss." Marjorie was member of the Community of Christ Church in Grannis since 1936.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 51 years; ten siblings, June Youngblood, Elsie Powell, Mary Butler, Will Youngblood, Bessie Fitch, Alice Parks, Fred Youngblood, Charles Youngblood, Robert Youngblood, and John Youngblood; as well as, a son-in-law, Danny Davis.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Davis of Diana, Texas and Joy Byrd of De Queen; four grandchildren and their spouses, Katherine Davis of Diana, Texas, Daniel and Kristi Davis of Burleson, Texas, Michael Ferris and Kirsten Byrd of Hatfield, Arkansas, and Amanda Joy Byrd, of De Queen; ten great-grandchildren, Katelyn Cowles, Kris Cowles, Cole Zuleger, Alessio Byrd, Ancelina Byrd, Zoe Byrd, Dennie Byrd, Maxx Davis, Drew Davis, and Marlie Joy Byrd; one sister-in-law, Janie Youngblood of Grannis, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Lee Brewer of De Queen; as well as, a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marjorie Joy Carpenter will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Seventy Terry Hess, Elder Bruce Aarant, Elder Barbara Martin, and Bro. Don Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery at Gillham, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
