Mrs. Marguerite Raley Merritt, age 98, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Friday, March 7, 2025, at her home in Lockesburg.

Marguerite was born next to the youngest of ten children to Almous Brice and Carrie Evelyn Wells Raley in Lockesburg, Arkansas on December 20, 1926. She was a homemaker and enjoyed doing yard work, quilting, canning and most of all she enjoyed her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon Merritt, Sr., two sons; Buford Gideon and Leon Merritt, Jr. her siblings; Harvey Raley, Pete Raley, Harold Raley, Richard Raley, Iva Crawford, Minnie Smith, Alice Evans, Jo Brennan and Hazel Cameron.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law; Evelyn & Ulyses Sowell of Lockesburg, Arkansas, eight grandchildren; Benita Harrill, Dale Gideon, Dale Gideon, Leslie Gideon, Michael Hamilton, Christa Pressley, Amber Turney, Korina Russell and Marguerite Roberts, 20 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews as well as other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marguerite Merritt will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home De Queen, Arkansas.

General viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday, March 10, 2025 at the funeral home.
