This soldier went home Nov 11, 2025.  A fitting day to go home as it was Veterans Day.

In his career he received the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism for his quick actions on October 12, 1970 protecting his unit under machine gun fire.  He also received the Bronze Star Medal for his service from May 1970 to April 1971 for outstandingly meritorious service against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by Mary Evelyn Byers (wife) Paul Alan Byers (son) Payne and Ollie Byers (parents) Herbert Byers (Brother), Ruth Graves (Sister), Ester Pierce (sister), Murl Byers (sister), and Velma Mickle (sister)

He is survived by His children Louis A and Tammy Byers Jr(son) Wanda Gail and Edward Zielonka (dau) and David W and Debbie Byers (son), 6 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

Tuffy served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was a true patriot.  He loved the Lord and is now resting with his Savior and those family who have passed before him.  His quick wit and loving nature will be missed by all of us as we celebrate his life and those lives he touched.  He will never be away from us because we all carry him around in our hearts forever.
