Obituary

Mrs. Linda Lou Gillaspy, age 78, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, passed away from this life on Saturday, March 31, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born to Sherman Clifford and Opal May Watkins Sanders in Vandervoort, Arkansas, on August 19, 1945.  She married the love of her life, Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Gillaspy in Hatton, Arkansas, on June 8, 1963.  To this union, three children were born.  She and Ronnie were active members of the Baker Rock Church.  She worked in many capacities, but her favorite was manager of the Wickes E-ZMart.  Linda was very active in her community and was a member of the Wickes Fire Department for 30 years, a member of the Wickes City Council, Wickes School Board, Wickes First Responder. In her youth, Linda enjoyed playing Softball and Basketball, but most of all she enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and watching her children and grandchildren play sports.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Roger Dale Sanders, Bobby Gean Sanders, Billie Loyd Sanders, Powell Sanders, Don Sanders, Jack Sanders, Dempsey Sanders, Boyd Sanders, Mary Ball, and Virginia Dansby.

She leaves to her memory, her beloved husband of 60 years, Ronnie Gillaspy; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory David and Michelle Gillaspy of Saint Cloud, Florida; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dena Gail Stacy, and Tina and Allen McKee, all of Wickes, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Ashly and her husband, Blake Simmons of Nashville, Arkansas, Shelby Kay and her husband, Kolton Ortiz of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, Nicole and her husband, Reece Womack of Magnolia, Arkansas, Chance Stacy and Konnor McKee both of Wickes, Arkansas, Kaylin, and her husband, Brian Strother of Vandervoort, Arkansas, and Matthew Lee Gillaspy of Saint Cloud, Florida; eight great-grandchildren, Kynlee Shackleford, Channing Shackleford, Brynlee Bagley, Kora Bagley, Lyndyn Ortiz, Hallie Grace Ortiz, Jack Womack, and Hayden Strother; three brothers, Jerry Sanders, and his wife, Kathy, James Sanders, and Dale Sanders, all of Wickes, Arkansas; two sisters, Noice Garner of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Gloria and her husband, A. J. Higginbottom of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a special friend, Susie Oliver, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Gillaspy will held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in the Church of the Nazarene, Wickes, Arkansas, with Bro. James Squires and Bro. Leon McCleskey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, Hartley, Arkansas.  Visitation will be at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
