Mr. Leo Dale McCleskey, age 77, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, died Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Bear Creek Health Care, De Queen, Arkansas, surrounded by family.
He was born to Ned Oscar and Ruby Lela Martin McCleskey, on November 3, 1946, in Mena, Arkansas. Leo loved being in the woods hunting deer and turkey. Camping and fishing were also favorite pastimes. When his children were young, most people remembered him as one of the old guys at the old E-Z Mart. If those old walls could talk.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ronald Earl Byrum, Billy Fred Byrum, sister, Maxine Adams, grandson, Lance McCleskey, Jr., granddaughter, Chyna McCleskey, his good friends, Delores and Davon Downing.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Yvonne and Wesley Chambers of Wickes, Arkansas, Eric Jon and Barbara McCleskey of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Anthony Lance and Leslie McCleskey of De Queen; one brother, Leon and Jo McCleskey of Wickes, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; Richie Chambers and his wife, Tonya of Cove, Arkansas, Haylie Goodner, and her husband, Marcus of Wickes, Arkansas, Riley Chambers and his wife, NaQuanta of Russellville, Arkansas, Karlie Jackon, and her husband, Skylar of Wickes, Arkansas, Cooper, Kipton and Ezekiel McCleskey of De Queen, Jasmine Ubillas, and her husband, Austin of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Johnathan Wood of Fort Smith, Arkansas; fourteen great-grandchildren, Rich and Bryden Chambers, Bryson James of Cove, Rynley Richardson, Sadie, Maeliegh and Anistyn Goodner, Bayla and Benny Rodriguez, and Willow Jackson of Wickes, Nylie Chambers of Russellville, Xain and, Addison Dawdy and Magnolia Ubillas of Fort Smith; one great-great-grandson, Cutler Chambers of Mena, Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews, other family members and a host of friends, including a special friend, Susie Oliver.
Funeral services for Mr. Leo McCleskey will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Wickes United Methodist Church with Bro. Steve Bradley and Bro. Leon McCleskey officiating. Burial will follow in Daniel Cemetery, Wickes, Arkansas. Visitation will be on Friday, September 6, 2024, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen, Arkansas, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
