Mrs. Laverne Addington
Mrs. Laverne Bolt Addington, lifelong resident of De Queen, Arkansas, went to her home on Friday, February 24, 2023, after a long illness. She was 75.

Laverne was born January 15, 1948, in De Queen, Arkansas. She was a 1966 graduate of De Queen High School and went on to obtain her master's degree in Elementary Education from Henderson State University. After receiving her master's degree, Laverne went on to pursue a PhD in Reading. She married the love of her life, Donald Dale Addington, on October 14, 1967, and to this union, one daughter was born. Laverne began her career as an educator in 1970, taking employment at the De Queen School District in 1972. She dedicated more than forty-three years to the De Queen School District, retiring in 2015. During her career, Laverne served different capacities including Title I Reading Instructor and Parent Involvement Coordinator for Title I. She concluded her career as the Gifted and Talented and Special Programs Coordinator. She loved teaching, her students, and best spent her time in the classroom. Laverne and Don are active members of Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cooking when she was able. Laverne cherished the time spent with Don, Linsey, their family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, G.J. and Edna Carter; three brothers, James Randy Bolt, Richard Rodger Bolt, and Mike Carter.

Laverne leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of over fifty-five years, Don Addington of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Linsey Addington and Michael Lugo of Dunwoody, Georgia; two grandchildren, Claudia and Frankie Addington-Lugo of Dunwoody, Georgia; one sister and brother-in-law, Lavada and Frankie Munoz of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Nancy Bolt of Haughton, Louisiana; one brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Cecelia Addington of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; as well as her church family of Kern Heights Baptist Church, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Laverne Addington will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Fischer officiating, Interment will follow at Redmen Cemetery in De Queen. Don and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen. You may leave a condolence online at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
