Mr. Larry Nichols
Mr. Larry Dale Nichols, age 74, resident of Shinewell, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 in a Texarkana, Texas hospital, surrounded by family.
He was born to Oscar Jack and Mary Louise Carter Nichols on October 29, 1945 in De Queen. He was a graduate of Haworth High School and proudly served his country with the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, Larry was stationed on the USS Saratoga. He married the love of his life, Rita Ann Carden, on May 23, 1965 in Winthrop, and to this union, one son was born. Larry was a Millwright working for International Paper in Valliant, Oklahoma, retiring after 32 years service. Larry also worked for Huber in Broken Bow, taking his second retirement after five years service. He was a member and Deacon of First Southern Baptist Church in Crossroads and was an ordained Baptist Minister. Larry was a member of the National Rifle Association and loved hunting and fishing, but there was one thing that surpassed this love and that was his family. He cherished the time spent with his loving wife, son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joey David; one great-grandson, Alex Reyes; and one sister, Shirley Hicks.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over 54 years, Rita Ann Nichols, whom he affectionately called "ReeRee," of Shinewell, Oklahoma; one son, James Nichols and his wife Suszanne of Kountze, Texas; grandchildren, Colby Nichols and his wife Rendi of Shinewell, Oklahoma, Maggie McDonald of Foreman, Brandy Hart and her husband Matt and Kristy Reyes, both of Kountze, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kurtis and Krista Reyes, Kendra and Logan Hart, Jake Allen and Weston Jack Nichols, and Jaycee Platt; great-great-grandchildren, Aurora and Grayson Reyes; one brother, Nicky Nichols and his wife Sandy of Readyville, Tennessee; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
