Ms. LaVerne Willis, age 83, a resident of Stephenville, Texas, passed peacefully from this life Thursday, June 8, 2023, in Lipan, Texas surrounded by her family.

LaVerne, one of eleven children born to William and Willie Calvin Short Willis, was born May 21, 1940 in De Queen, Arkansas.  She graduated from Horatio High School in 1958 and went on to earn her RN Degree in 1962.  She worked in the medical field in Arkansas, Arizona and Texas.  LaVerne was a member of the Assembly of God Church and enjoyed quilting, cooking, tennis, and trap shooting, but her best spent time was with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Willie Mae Willis, Effie Morgan, Ruthie McCoy, R. C. Willis, Paul Willis, Susie Willis, Mildred Irvan, and Juanita Roberts.

LaVerne leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Samantha Pehl of Dublin, Texas, Christi Love McCoy of Lapin, Texas, Toni Rena Headstream of Stephenville, Texas and Joni Rae Sears of Dublin, Texas; a son, Brett Moore of Yuma, Arizona; two brothers, Billy Fay Willis and Glynn David Willis both of Horatio, Arkansas.  She was "Mamaw" to her beloved nine grandchildren and her three great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
