Obituary

Mrs. Kay Frances Dodds Chenoweth, age 82, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, and former resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed from this life on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in De Queen, Arkansas on January 16, 1942, the daughter of Fred Russel and Vondal Opal Crisp Dodds.  She married Nolan Jerald "Jerry" Chenoweth on September 12, 1959, and to this marriage three children were born.  Kay and Jerry would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 19 days. Together, Jerry and Kay owned and operated J & K Truck Lines in De Queen for many years.

Besides being a wife and mother, Kay had worked at Rubber Corporation, and drove a school bus for the Gillham School System.  Kay was a member of the Ridge Memorial Baptist Church, Slidell, Louisiana, and she enjoyed sewing, cooking, watching ducks and airplanes, but her spent time was with Jerry and their family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Chenoweth, a granddaughter, Cheyenne Chenoweth, and two sisters, Evelyn Byers, and Jozell Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Nolan Jerald "Jerry" Chenoweth of Slidell, Louisiana; two daughters and a son-in-law, Terri and Clay Williams of Slidell, Louisiana, and Teresa Blanchett of De Queen; one brother, James Russel Dodds of Horatio, and a sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Nick Short of Gillham, Arkansas, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Kay Chenoweth will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Pullman Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas with Bro. Jerry Hill officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.  You may send an online condolence at www.chandlerfuneral.com or Chandler Funeral Home Facebook.
