Mr. John Willard Hill, age 85, a resident of Wickes, Arkansas, passed away on March 6, 2026, with his family and friends at his side.
John W. Hill was born in De Queen, Arkansas, on September 16,1940 to John and Delia Hill. He graduated from Wickes High School, and he went on to receive a bachelor's degree in business at Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was a member of the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 where he was stationed at Fort Ord, California. John moved back to Arkansas in 1965 where he married Patricia McLaughlin, his wife of 60 years! He joined Shelter Insurance as a claims adjustor and was a faithful employee of 36 years.
John loved his family, and friends with all of his heart. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Wickes Nazarene Church. He loved playing music, playing golf, hunting, and playing/watching all kinds of sports. He couldn't get enough of TV westerns (Gun Smoke) and Andy Griffith.
John is preceded in death by his father, John Hill and mother, Delia Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Hill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shanna and Patrick Spence, Jennifer and David Dunlap; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Paul Melton; six grandchildren, Sam Spence, Kailey Dunlap, Sarah Spence, Hannah Spence, John Dawson and Bo Dunlap; one great-grandchild, Archie Hebert; along with a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. John Hill will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 9, 2026, at Baker Cemetery in Wickes, Arkansas, with Bro. Leon McCleskey officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. There will be no visitation held.
