Mr. John Cravens Mr. John Wesley Cravens, age 100, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 in at Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana Texas. He was born to Oscar C., Sr. and Mary Turrentine Cravens in Lockesburg, Arkansas, on November 28, 1916. Mr. Cravens was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a retired construction worker as well as a farmer. He was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church of Lockesburg, Arkansas, He was an avid hunter, as well as enjoying sports, gardening, and had a gift of story-telling. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Herman Cravens, Carl Cravens, Lester Cravens, Oscar Cravens, Jr., Ruth Wright, Daisy Cabean, Esther Sampson, a son, Fredrick Cravens, and his wife, Raydell Wright Cravens. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Wendell Smart of Wichita, Kansas, and Frederica Wytch of Landover, Maryland, five grandchildren, Cynthia Smart of Kansas City, Kansas, Angela Cravens of Wichita, Kansas, Michael Cravens, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas, Keith Smart of Lockesburg, and Ruth Cravens of San Antonio, Texas, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Melba Taylor of Caruthersville, Missouri, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. John Cravens will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 5:00 P.M., at the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg. Burial with military rites will be held in Holly Springs Cemetery, Lockesburg, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, March 24th from 3:30 P.M., until service time.
