Mrs. JoAnn Mary Brophy Shickles, age 81, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, surrounded by her family.

She was born to James Raymond and Inez Naomi Lee Brophy in Rockford, Illinois, on June 4, 1943.

JoAnn was a 1961 graduate of East High School and went on to receive her L.P.N.  JoAnn married William Raymond Shickles on June 6, 1969, and to this marriage, three daughters were born. She worked in bookkeeping and accounting, as well as a wife and mother.

She and William loved to travel and were able to see all but thirteen states.  She loved feeding the birds, squirrels, and deer. But most of all she was devoted to her girls, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Raymond Shickles, and two brothers, Robert Ellevold, and Laverne Ellevold.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Traci Lynn Call-Johnson and her husband, Michael of Belvidere, Illinois, Cherie Ann Barfield and her husband, Mike of Gillham, Arkansas, and Robin Renee Dorsey, and her husband, Mark of De Queen; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Shelby, Casey, Blake, Allison, Lindsey, and Lucas; sixteen great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Coralynn, Mason, Kyzer, Zella, Dextin, Mayson, Ayden, Janie, Cason, Jaxon, Jake, Kinzley, Alli, Colbert, and Amos; one brother, James R. Brophy of De Queen, a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
