Mr. Jim McWhorter
Mr. Jimmy Lee McWhorter, age 77, resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, October 23, 2022, surrounded by his family in the comfort of his home.
Jim, as he was known to family and friends, was born on June 27, 1945, in De Queen, Arkansas, to William Aaron "Bill" and Amy Jane Crunk McWhorter, one of five children. At a young age, Jim began working his career in logging. He would later become part of McWhorter Brothers Logging in Lockesburg, where he retired following countless years of service. He married the love of his life, Jane Aylor, on June 12, 1970, in Texarkana, Texas, and to this union, a son and daughter were born. Jim and Jane made their home in Lockesburg, where they raised their children, worked in the log woods, and grew their farm. Jim formerly attended the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, but his home was at Cross Point Cowboy Church in Nashville. He enjoyed farming, working, and coon hunting, but best his time with Jane, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Amy McWhorter; and two brothers, Bobby McWhorter, and Jerry McWhorter.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of over fifty-two years, Jane McWhorter of Lockesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Wayne and Mickie McWhorter of Lockesburg; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Greg Hanney of De Queen; four grandchildren, Ryan Hanney and wife Hannah of De Queen, Kris McWhorter and fiancé John Butler of Foreman, Brady Hanney and wife Katy of De Queen, and Layne McWhorter and fiancé Jynsen Smith of Dierks; four great-grandchildren, Bentley, Ressie, Berkleigh, and Paisley; brother and sister-in-law, William "Billy" and Wanda McWhorter of Lockesburg; sister, Diana Shaw of Nash, Texas; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Jim McWhorter will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Cross Point Cowboy Church, Nashville, with Bro. Don Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Lockesburg, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home. You may leave a condolence online at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
