Elder Jerome Edwards, Sr.
Elder Jerome Edwards, Sr., age 55, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away from this life on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to the late Supt. E. A. Edwards and Betty Grant Edwards on February 11, 1965, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. He was a 1984 graduate of De Queen High School. He attended Texarkana College for two years. He studied Hebrew and taught in the Seminary School in Georgia. He worked in management for Brookshires for many years throughout, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. He was also a former De Queen Police Officer and owned Edwards Total Care.

He accepted his call into the ministry at a young age. His first ministry was the Body of Christ Ministry, drawing many young people. He was well known for his tent revivals. He had an anointing to draw people of all ages, young and old alike. He pastored Fairview Church of God in Christ in Waldo, Arkansas, an Outreach Reach Ministry in Texarkana, Arkansas, the Body of Christ Ministries in Kansas City, Mo and The Light House – IPHC, Macon, Georgia. Throughout his ministry, he preached out several churched and established them for other denominations. He understood the kingdom of God was world-wide and he sought to expand it by taking it abroad and impacting as many lives as he could. Upon God's leading, he later returned to De Queen to complete his "Assignment", co-laboring along-side his father in ministry and taking care of him until his death. After the passing of his father, he continued the legacy of his father by taking care of his mother and continuing on the pastoralship of Lewis Temple Church of God in Christ. He was a shepherd of the highest to the flock God entrusted him with. His favorite song was "In the Morning, When I Rise". Apostle Jerome got his wings.

He loved his wife, family, church family, and the community. He had a heart like his father, Supt. E. A. Edwards. He would do anything for anybody. He lived his life taking care of and helping others. From childhood up, he had a special bond with everyone that he came in contact with. His smile was infectious, and if you were around him and talked to him you were hook. He was just special. He had charisma like none other. He enjoyed fishing, sports, family, being around people, and was an avid Razorback fan.

He married Aundria Faye Hopkins Miller on May 9, 2013 in Texarkana, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Supt. E.A. Edwards; one son, William Jabari Arnett Edwards; one grandson, Kyngston Scott; his grandparents, Lucille and Arnett Edwards, and Anna and Edward Grant.

Jerome leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Aundria Edwards of De Queen; his mother, Betty Edwards of De Queen; one son, Jerome (BJae) Anthony Edwards, Jr., of Texarkana; two step-sons, Quintonius Scott and Cedrick Scott of Texarkana; one step-daughter, TaRoya Lawson and husband Mike of Hope; one God-daughter, Kashley Hopkins of Texarkana; one brother, Lavelle Edwards and wife Veronica of Little Rock; four sisters, Rosaline Fricks and husband Carl of Ashdown, Sharon Craig of Bearden, Maria Nelson and husband Leroy of Horatio, and Charlotte Malvin and husband Carlton of Little Rock; his mother-in-law, Annie Hopkins of Ashdown; two brothers-in-law, Barry Lynn Hopkins of Ogden, and Kevin Hopkins and wife Nicole of Wake Village; two sisters-in-law, Sondria Chappell of Ogden, and Pearlie Lee of De Queen; seven grandchildren, Caliyah, DKeaston, Shacarrington, Kylan, Myla Kate, Draelon and Deonte; as well as, nieces, nephews, his church family and many friends.

Funeral Services for Elder Jerome Edwards, Sr., will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, December 5, 2020 at the De Queen First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
