Janet Gamble
Lowrey
Mar 13, 1942 — Jul 18, 2020
De Queen
Lovingly submitted by Janet's granddaughter, Callie:
Mrs. Janet Lowrey
Mrs. Janet Gamble Lowrey, age 78, resident of De Queen, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 at her home.
She was born to Frank and Helen Gamble on March 13th, 1942 in De Queen. Janet married the love of her life, Ronald Lowrey on March 18th, 1967.
Janet was a graduate of De Queen High School and worked many different jobs over the years from helping her Dad run and cook at "Frank's" (where she learned to cook a mean Frank Burger) to being a homemaker, but her favorite job was being a wife, mother, and Grandma to her Grandchildren and especially being a foster grandparent at Parkhill Pre-School in De Queen.
Janet faithfully attended the Presbyterian Church of De Queen for most of her adult life and loved her church family there but later became a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was a beautiful soul that never met a stranger, especially on her daily trips to Wal-Mart; she truly and unconditionally loved all people and animals. She was often reminded by her daughters to refrain from picking up and giving rides to strangers off the side of the road when she had her grandchildren with her. Janet also did not mind letting any deer hunter know they better stay clear of the deer and wildlife in her yard. She enjoyed listening and dancing to country music and was the original groupie for the Gene Argenbright Band for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Vanmeter and a son-in-law, Dwayne Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, Jay Gamble of De Queen; her husband of 53 years, Ron; three children, Sandy Miller-Huntsberger of De Queen, Leah Harper (Joey) of Lockesburg, and Brett Lowrey of Conway; seven grandchildren, Ashley Coleman, Callie Miller, Morgan Miller, and Blake Lowrey (Marley) all of De Queen, Grayson Coleman of Biloxi, MS, Austin O'Rand (Jordan) of Harrah Oklahoma and Alec Lowrey of Little Rock; two great-grandchildren, Carson Coleman of De Queen and Dallis O'Rand of Harrah, OK; as well as nieces, nephews, a host of great friends and her beloved baby, Dash, the second smartest dog in the world.
Private Services for Mrs. Janet Lowrey will be held at a later time. Cremation Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. You may send an online sympathy message at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
