Mrs. Jacqueline Kates, age 87, a resident of De Queen, passed from this life, Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Sevier County Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to Froy Elbert and Chloie Adams Higdon in Gadsden, Alabama on May 31, 1937.  She was a homemaker and had a professional cleaning service.  She was a Baptist, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her kids and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Kates, a son, Kenneth Wayne Kates, and all of her siblings.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Kevin Kates; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Shawn Hicks; two grandchildren and their spouses, Nichole and Jr Griffin, and Heather and Micah Owen; two great-grandchildren, Gunner Griffin and Cooper Owen all of De Queen, Arkansas, several nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
