Mrs. Helen Phillips
Mrs. Helen Joyce Eason Phillips, age 93, resident of De Queen, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 8, 2023, with family by her side.
Helen was born the youngest of two children to Leonard Mills and Ola Mae Seely Eason on November 22, 1929, in Plainview, Texas. Helen married the love of her life, Samuel Andrew Phillips, on August 15, 1947, in Brownwood, Texas, and to this union, three daughters were born. Helen was a homemaker and accomplished seamstress, having spent her life raising and caring for the needs of her daughters and grandchildren. She was very involved with her daughter's lives, having made a number of outfits, uniforms, and formal attire for any activity the girls were involved with. Helen was said to be a sweet, kind, and patient lady. She and Sam are members of Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen. Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, singing and playing music, riding motorcycles with Sam, and traveling. She and Sam have traveled to all of the lower forty-eight states on two wheels. Helen best spent her time with Sam, their children, and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ola Mae Eason; one daughter, Linda Phillips; one grandson, Taylor Moon; and her brother, Julian Eason.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband of over seventy-five years, Sam Phillips of De Queen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deby and Nick Prime of De Queen, and Susan and Bill Moon of Keller, Texas; three grandchildren, Sam Prime of De Queen, Nathan Jones and wife Yadira of Arlington, Texas, and Samantha Barakat and husband Ronnie of Dallas, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Jonathan, and Mareli; as well as other relatives, and a host of friends.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Bear Creek Healthcare for the love and care shown to Helen and their family for the past nine years.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Helen Phillips will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Fischer officiating. Interment will follow, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. You may leave a condolence online at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
Bill Moon, Nick Prime, Nathan Jones, Sam Prime, Ronnie Barakat, Paul Anderson, and Lynn Smith will serve as honorary pallbearers.
