Mrs. Hazel L. Burris-Walker, age 97, a resident of De Queen, and former resident of Horatio, Arkansas, and Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Monday, July 10, 2017 in Bear Creek Healthcare, De Queen, Arkansas. She was born to Albert and Janie Bass-Burris in Sevier County, Arkansas, on September 25, 1919. She was a Christian and attended St. John Baptist Church in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. She was a devoted, wife, homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and sold eggs raised from free range hens. She was a generous lady who cared deeply for family and friends enjoying the times spent together. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Earl Burris, and Richard Burris, and her husband, Willie Walker. She is survived by two nephews, Dr. Clifton F. (Donna) Burris of Gary, Indiana, and Earl (Carolyn) Burris of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, two nieces; Linda (Burris) Smith and Brenda (Ricky) Young of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and a foster niece, Bonita Gaffney-French of Horatio, as well as other family members, her care givers, and a host of friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hazel Burris Walker will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, 22,2017, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time on Saturday, July 22, 2017. Burial will follow in the Sunset Acres, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas 71832.
