At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and remained a faithful servant throughout her life. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Baptist Church and later joined Community Missionary Baptist Church, where she was honored as Mother of the Church.
Gladys attended Unity High School in Foreman, Arkansas, where she met B.C. Griffin. The two were married in 1946 in Foreman, Arkansas, and later moved to Tom, Oklahoma. From this union, ten children were born.
Gladys began her working years as a laborer on the Madison Farm. She later worked at the Mountaire Poultry Company and eventually transitioned into healthcare services. She had a passion for serving others and found joy in people, church, and gardening.
Gladys came from a large and loving family and was the last living child of fifteen born to Mitchell and Sarah Edd.
