Obituary

Mr. George Emory Vorhease, age 65, a resident of Haworth, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Hospice of Texarkana. George was born to Jesse James and Elizabeth Irene Choate Vorhease in Crossett, Arkansas on January 27, 1953. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U S Army. He was the second oldest of four children.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Deana Ann Vorhease, one brother Late Dr. James Vorhease and grandchild James E. McGehee III.

George enjoyed serving his family, friends and community. He was a retired Southern Baptist Minister and was passionate about sharing God's grace and was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church at Crossroads, Arkansas He retired from Red River Army Depot as an electronic tech. George accomplished many achievements in his life including a third degree Black Belt in Marshall Arts. George always had a song in his heart and a joke and story to tell. Time spent on the river was the highlight of George's retirement. Many mornings were spent having coffee with his brother Carl also known as their rooster sessions. Whether he was living by a creek, river or cruising the seas, George one rule was as long as he can cast his fishing pole it was a great place to be. George enjoyed spending time outdoors; hunting, fishing, cruising, camping and spending time making memories with family and friends.

Survivors include; Wife Amanda Vorhease of Dequeen, AR, Daughter Bambi Mcgehee, Husband Dutch and granddaughter Katherine of Rockhill, South Carolina; Brother Carl Vorhease and wife Debbie of Haworth, Oklahoma. Two Nephews, Michael Vorhease and wife Cora, of Crossett, Arkansas, Buck Woodall, of South Carolina; Two Nieces Danyel Vorhease of Maumelle Arkansas and Vanessa Gibson and her husband Bradford, of Conway, Arkansas, one great-nephew, Grant of Crossett, Arkansas and many other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements have been made with Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas. Visitation will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and the funeral service will be held April 14, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chandler Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Roy Conatser officiating and military services to follow at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
