De Queen
Mrs. Genetta Adams
Mrs. Genetta McWhorter Adams, age 68, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at home with loved ones by her side.
Genetta was born one of six children to the union of Allen "Windy" McWhorter and Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter on June 9, 1953, in Nashville, Arkansas. She was a 1971 graduate of Lockesburg High School, and married the love of her life, William Jean "Willie" Adams, on June 19, 1971, in McCaskill, Arkansas. To this union, two sons were born. Genetta worked eight years for DH Baldwin Piano and Organ Company and later for the De Queen School District. She worked in food service for the school, retiring after thirty-two years of service. Genetta and Willie are faithful members of De Queen First Assembly of God, where she was known as "Sarge". She served as Women's Ministry Leader, Kitchen and Event Coordinator, Wedding Coordinator, and taught Sunday School and Children's Church. She enjoyed reading, camping, playing games with family and friends, decorating her home, shopping, going to church, and spending time in Pensacola on the white sand and blue water. More than anything, she cherished the time spent with Willie, their sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Windy "Pops" and Lillie "Big Mama" McWhorter; two sisters, Phyllis Green and Tava Gordon; and two brothers, Louis McWhorter and David McWhorter.
Genetta leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of over 50 years, Willie Adams of De Queen; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Jean Adams, Jr. and Stacy J. of Bauxite, Arkansas, and Mark Jonathan Adams and Stacy E. of Alma, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Lacey (Ryan) Leonard of Norfolk, Virginia, William Jace Adams of Bauxite, Alyssa Lee Adams of Alma, and Jonathan Ripley Adams of Alma; one great-grandchild, Isabella Jonette Adams, and another on the way; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Sara McWhorter of Daisy, Arkansas; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, the De Queen First Assembly of God family, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Genetta Adams will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 27, 2021, at De Queen First Assembly of God with Pastor Ray Reynold and Rev. Kent Irvan officiating.
