Obituary

Mr. Gailon Godwin Mr. Gilbert Gailon Godwin, age 69, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in the Baptist Health Center, Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born to Walter and Ella French Godwin in De Queen, Arkansas on January 20, 1947. Gailon was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U. S. Army. He was a retired engineer for the D&E.T.O.&E Railroad, and was an active member of the Kern Heights Baptist Church. He was a Sevier County Library Board Member, a board member and president of the Mt. Ida Cemetery Board, and a Gideon. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, hunting, and carpentry projects. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronnie Godwin, and a sister, Sybil Staggs. He is survived by his wife, Jamie Key Godwin of De Queen, a son, Kory Godwin of De Queen, two daughters, Carmen Johnson of Ashdown, and Candy Springer of Wake Village, Texas, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Jay L. Jones of Wake Village, Texas, Shirley Staggs, and Judy and Tommy Moore all of De Queen, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Gailon Godwin will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 17th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Jones and Pastor Jordan Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, December 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
