Mr. Floyd Wayne Montgomery, II, affectionally known as Wayne by family and friends, age 65, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
Wayne was born on March 11, 1961, in Wichita, Kansas to Floyd Wayne Montgomery, I, and Emma Louise Mounce Montgomery. He married Celia Kay Hobbs on May 2, 1987, in De Queen, Arkansas and to this marriage they had one son, Trevor Montgomery and one daughter, Tara Montgomery Brewer. Wayne was a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church, he did masonry work including bricking homes, the old Walmart, Parkhill School, De Queen School, he built fireplaces, laying tile, overall, he was just a jack of all trades. Wayne enjoyed farming, helping bale hay, truck driving, he was always ready to go places, taking Noah riding on the side by side, but most importantly his greatest passion was helping his kids and being Chief to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his two uncles, Dale Montgomery and JT Mounce; along with other aunts and uncles; a brother-in-law, Lee Von Gilbert.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 39 years, Celia Montgomery of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Trevor and Madelyn Montgomery of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Mark Brewer of Texarkana, Arkansas; two grandsons, Weston Brewer and Noah Brewer; his soon-to-be granddaughter, Carlyn Montgomery; his uncle, Jay Montgomery of Sedan, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Linda Gilbert of De Queen; his nieces and nephews, a number of cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Wayne Montgomery will be held, 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rusty Ross and Bro. Bobby Fischer officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, July 6, 2026, in the funeral home chapel.
