Mr. Ed Johnston
Mr. Edward Dewayne Johnston, age 71, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Dierks, Arkansas.

"Ed", as he was known to family and friends, was born to John William and Flossie Bradley Johnston on June 6, 1952, in Monroe, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Rison, Arkansas, and later began his career as a Painter and Handyman. Ed later went to work for Sevier County, working at the Landfill in Horatio. He took final retirement earlier this year. He married the love of his life, Patricia "Pat" Davis, on January 8, 2011, in De Queen. Together they have shared a number of loving years. Ed enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Johnston and Flossie Taylor; one brother, Johnny Johnston; and one sister, Glenda Proctor.

Ed leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Pat Johnston of De Queen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Brock Laster of Hot Springs, and Brandi and Shawn Smith of Mena; one son, Ashley Johnston of Warren; two grandchildren, Brittany Smith (Sam Gallardo), and Brenna Smith, all of Fort Smith; one sister, Pat Athey of De Queen; three brothers, Tim Taylor and wife Teresa, Bob Taylor, and Joe Taylor, all of Warren; brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses, J.W. Davis of Nashville, Jimmy and Theresa Davis of Dierks, Lenda and Bob Taylor of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Glenda and Ronald Peden of Nashville, and Cathy Bennett of De Queen; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

The family of Mr. Ed Johnston will receive friends for a Memorial Visitation on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel.
