Obituary

Mrs. Etta Earlene Humphrey, age 88, resident of Springdale, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at The Maples at Har-Ber Meadows in Springdale.

Earlene, as she was known to family and friends, was born to Robbie Earl Needham and Hazel Latimer Needham on October 3, 1935, in Lockesburg, Arkansas. After graduating High School in De Queen, Arkansas, Earlene attended Southern Arkansas University, in Magnolia, Arkansas. It was during this time that she met Wayne Humphrey, her loving husband of sixty-eight years. In her professional life, Earlene worked as an Executive Secretary.

Prior to moving to Springdale, Earlene lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for almost forty years. During this time, she worked as the School Secretary for Villa del Rey Elementary, where her children attended school. After retiring, she and Wayne traveled extensively. Earlene cherished above all the time spent with Wayne, their children, and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, T. Wayne Humphrey; two brothers, Bobby Jim Needham, and James Daniel "Danny" Needham; two sisters, Nita Gene Needham, and Linda K Needham Finley and a brother-in-law, Ronald Finley.

Earlene was a devoted wife and mother. She will be especially remembered for her quick wit and unique sense of humor to which anyone who knows her will attest. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Lloyd Kelley Humphrey and his children, Adalyn Bristol, Casey Johnson, Paige Humphrey, and Victoria Humphrey; her daughter Deidre Humphrey Wynne and her children, Garrett Duffy Campbell and Quinn Emerson Campbell; and son Scott Marcus Humphrey, a brother, and sister-in-law, Wendell and Marolyn Needham, and several nieces and nephews.  Our special thanks go to her caregiver, Carolyn Cowling.
