Obituary

Mr. Earl Pettigrew, Jr., age 91, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born to Earl Walter and Lizzie Stinnett Pettigrew on March 17, 1933, in Horatio, Arkansas.  He served his country with the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was a mechanic by trade and retired from the United Parcel Service.  Earl was a member of the Old Center Church in Horatio, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geneva Nell Frost Pettigrew; his life companion, Ruth Wilson; his siblings, Jewell Pettigrew, Luther Pettigrew, James "Cowboy" Pettigrew, Marie Morro, Elise Van Meter, Irene Pettigrew, and Ima Jean Brooks.

Earl leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Sheila Sampsel of De Queen; two granddaughters, Jana Evans and her husband, Colin, of California; Gena Marie Elam of Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Landon Evans of California, Natalie Elam, Marissa Elam, Danielle Elam, and Brandon Elam, all of Indiana; one brother, Dorvin Pettigrew of Oregon; one sister, Leona Hanson of California; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Earl Pettigrew, Jr. will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Old Center Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Chandler Funeral Home.
