Mr. Donald Ray Birdsong, age 78, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Sevier County Medical Center.

He was the youngest son born to Marvin A. and Opal Mae Pressley Birdsong.  Donald was born on September 27, 1946.  After graduating from De Queen High School in 1965, he went on to college. Donald was a Vietnam Veteran, faithfully serving with the U. S. Army.  He was a master carpenter and painter by trade for more than thirty years, and retired from the Sevier County Housing Authority, and was a Baptist.  He loved the outdoors, gardening, riding four wheelers, his horse, but his best spent time was with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jimmie Birdsong, and a sister-in-law, Louise Birdsong.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nina Wilson Birdsong of De Queen; a son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Lisa Birdsong of Prosper, Texas, a daughter and son-in-law, Trena and Shannon Roberts of De Queen; two grandchildren, Austin Vaden of Lubbock, Texas, and Lexi Birdsong of Prosper, Texas; a niece, Leona Robb of Hatton, Arkansas; three nephews, Duane Dixon of Houston, Texas, Jeff Birdsong of Haworth, Oklahoma, and Jerry Birdsong of Edgewood, New Mexico, other family members and a host of friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Donald Birdsong will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Sullivan and Bro. Roy Conatser officiating.  Burial with Military Rites will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery, De Queen. General visitation will be Monday, February 3, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
