Mr. Darrell Clayton Smith, age 87, a resident of De Queen, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Sevier County Medical Center, De Queen.

He was born to Emory Hansford and Lena Louise Crownover Smith in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on October 1, 1936.  He was a 1954 graduate of Shawnee High School and was a mechanic by trade.  He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Air Force.   He was an avid fisherman and was a Baptist.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sherrilyn Kay Slater Smith; two sons, William D. Smith and Darrell Ray Smith: a brother, Dudley Smith, and a sister Fredonia Dowden.

He leaves to cherish his memory a special son and daughter, Russell and Evelyn Yandell of De Queen; special grandchildren, James "J-Bo" and Krystal Yandell of De Queen; and Amanda Terrell of De Queen.  His grandsons, Jeremy D. Smith of McCloud, Oklahoma, and Danica Smith of Shawnee, Oklahoma. His special great-grandchildren, Landon, Tylynn, McKinley, McKayla Yandell, and Payton Terrell;  A nephew, Rick Dowden of Leesville, Louisiana; a niece, Mischelle Serr of San Antonio, Texas; and a special friend, Terri Cranford.
